Sarah Hopkins was delighted to attend the All Party Parliamentary Group Women and Work at the House of Commons

Co-Chairs Gillian Keegan MP and Jess Phillips MP led the meeting and ensured a constructive session focused on this important area.

The meeting looked at the role of women in building the female talent pipeline, maximising women's success in their own job searches and improving progression.  The presentations and discussions examined topics such as key skills, confidence, education and advice and coaching and mentoring.  This was the second meeting of the 2018 programme, How to Recruit Women for the 21st Century, sponsored by the Recruitment and Employment Confederation (REC) to examine the recruitment process from start to finish.

The speaker panel was made up of:

Carole Easton, CEO, Young Women's Trust

Priscilla Casey, The Young Women's Trust Advisory Panel

Juliet Dowley, Advocate, Girlguiding UK

Karl Simpson, Founder and CEO, Liftstream

"There was a broad and lively debate ranging from the importance of work for women to improving confidence and providing strong senior leadership role models for women to relate and aspire to.  It was a fabulous sharing of expert opinion and the excellent presentations from Priscilla, of Young Women's Trust and Juliet of Girlguiding were inspirational and wonderful examples of our young female talent pipeline."

"It was great to be part of this dynamic group and hear first-hand the work that is being done positively at all levels to encourage women to take up jobs and fulfil their career potential.  Whilst there is more to be done this was a great initiative which deserves credit and support.  As this is something I am passionate about I'm already looking forward to the next session" commented Sarah Hopkins, Director HopkinsLongworth Executive Search.
